For 90 years, Otto Bock’s name has stood for entreprenurial success, for innovation and technically outstanding products and services in the field of medical technology.
For people with physical disabilities for whom technology can provide mobility and the joy of life, the place to turn to is Otto Bock Health Care, the world’s leading brand, which sets the standard in prostheses.
In 1919, Otto Bock laid the ground work for the orthopedic industry in Berlin, whereby the orthopedic mechanic founded a company which would provide prostheses and orthopedic products for war victims.
Since 1990, OttoBock Health Care has been managed by Dr. Hans Georg Näder, the grandson of the company’s founder.
In 1987, independent of the company, Dr. Näder created the Otto Bock Foundation to fund interdisciplinary education.
In 2002, the Foundation’s charter was broadened in the area of its pursuits to including charitable activities. The flood of the century in east Germany was the catalyst for this change in the charter. Ever since then, the foundation has also been involved in international aid projects. Particularly, Otto Bock helps badly injured children in disaster areas with technical orthopedic care.
Dr. Hans Georg Näder has been a member of the board of directors at the Katarina Witt Foundation since 2005.
